What is BHIM | BHIM App

BHIM - Bharat Interface for Money is a digital payments solution app based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). BHIM App allows you to make direct bank payments to anyone on UPI using their UPI Id or scanning their QR with the BHIM app. You can also request money through BHIM app from a UPI Id. You have to register your bank account with BHIM App, and set a UPI pin for the bank account. Your mobile number is your payment address and you can simply start transacting through this app. If your mobile number is already registered with UPI, you are good to go.



Features of BHIM App

1. You can download BHIM App from play store or app store.
2. You can send money to or receive money from customers, friends and family members through a mobile number or payment address.
3. Money can also be sent to Account and IFSC code.
4. You can also collect money by sending a request and reverse payments if required.
5. BHIM app allows you to check your bank balance and transactions details on the go.
6. You can create a custom payment address in addition to your phone number.
7. You can create your own QR code for a fixed amount of money, which the merchant can scan to make the deduction.
8. Currently, it is available in 13 languages, i.e., Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Odia, Kannada, Punjabi, Assamese, Urdu, Marathi and Gujarati.
9. There are no charges for making the transaction through BHIM app. However, your bank might levy a charge as UPI or IMPS transfer fee. Please check with your bank for more details.
10. BHIM is not a wallet. It is a payments application which allows users to make instant bank transfers.
11. All transactions are secured as it is happing via UPI (Unified Payment Interface).
12. BHIM app is backed by the government of India and money is getting transferred from bank account to bank account without any intermediator.
13. All payments over BHIM App are linked to a bank account and the transaction can be completed within few seconds.
14. Since BHIM App is a UPI app, you can always contact your bank in case anything goes wrong.

Types of transactions can be done using BHIM App

Through BHIM App you can make following type of transaction:
1. Request or Send Money via Payment Address.
2. Send Money to Aadhaar Number.
3. Request or Send Money to Mobile number.
4. Send Money through MMID, Mobile Number.
5. Send Money through IFSC code, Account Number.
6. In addition, you can use the scan and pay option for Merchant payments.


Requirements to start using BHIM App

To start using BHIM App, all you need is a Smartphone, an Indian bank account that supports UPI payments and mobile number linked to the bank account. Link your bank account to UPI through BHIM app. You can download BHIM app from play store or app store.

BHIM is a unique payment solution which can be used without internet as well. You can dial *99# from any phone and avail the same features of BHIM on your mobile screen. You can also register for BHIM using *99#.

Sending money using BHIM App

You can send money by using one of the following details of the beneficiary.
1. VPA (Registered on UPI)
2. Mobile No. (Registered on UPI)
3. Aadhaar Number (Should be linked to a bank account)
4. Account Number and IFS code
You can also make payments by scanning the QR of the person you want to send money to. You can send up to Rs 20,000 per transaction and a maximum of Rs 40,000 per day for one bank account. This limit is available per bank account linked to BHIM App.



Receiving money using BHIM App

On BHIM App, you can initiate a collect transaction for asking money from someone. You have to enter the amount and UPI ID. The user who will receive the request can pay or decline the collect request by authenticating it with the UPI pin. You also share your QR to let others make payments to you as well. There is a limit of Rs 10,000 per collect request on BHIM App. However, there is no limit to the amount of money you can receive via BHIM App.
