Aadhaar card is an important document that can be presented as proof of identity or address, approved by Government of India. Various Government and Non-Government services, subsidy benefits, pensions, scholarships, taxation services, employment, etc. require Aadhaar number these days for verification and registration purposes. Therefore, it essential to ensure that your Aadhaar data stored in the CIDR is accurate and up-to-date. In this post, let us take a look at how to update or correct Aadhaar card details by online and offline mode.   



If there is any misprint or incorrect information in your Aadhaar card then you need to update or correct it to avoid any inconvenience in the future. You can update or correct your name, address, gender, date of birth, mobile number and email id in Aadhaar. You can also update your biometrics such as finger prints, iris, and photograph. Follow the below procedure to update or correct your Aadhaar card details.



How to update or correct Aadhaar card details by online and offline mode?

As per UIDAI website, there are two different modes to update or correct your Aadhaar card details.
1. Update or correct your details via online using Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).
2. Update or correct your Aadhaar details by visiting the permanent enrolment centre.



Update or correct your Aadhaar card details online

You can only update your Address online using Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). You need to have your mobile number registered with UIDAI for using online service to place update request. Your Aadhaar number and registered Mobile number are required to log in to the Self Service Update Portal.

For other Demographic details updates such as Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile Number, Email as well as Biometrics (Finger Prints, Iris and Photograph) you will have to visit a Permanent Enrolment Center.

Note that If you are using online Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) for updation, you can only update your Demographic details (Address). However, to update or change your address, you need a valid address proof of residence or an address validation letter instead of valid address proof of residence.

Also, ensure that your mobile number is registered with UIDAI while using this service.

Update or correct Aadhaar details by visiting the Permanent Enrolment Centre

If your Demographic details (Name, Address, Date of Birth, Gender, Mobile Number and Email) is not up-to-date in your Aadhaar card, you can get the same updated. Just visit your nearest Permanent Enrolment Centre to place the demographic (Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile number, and Email Id) and biometric (Finger prints, Iris and Photograph) update request.

You need to carry original supporting documents for updation at the enrolment centre. Original supporting documents will be scanned at the time of accepting the request and handed back to you after updation.

Notable Points

1. As per UIDAI website, it takes up to 90 days for updation in Aadhaar after the request
2. For updation in Aadhaar card, you have to pay Rs. 50/- to the service provider each time you get your details updated.
3. You need to carry your original documents for updation at enrolment centre. If you are using online Self Service Update portal (SSUP) for address updation, you need to upload a scan of original documents.
4. Your Aadhaar number will remain same throughout even after updation.
5. Visit any permanent enrolment centre for updation.
6. You can download your e-Aadhaar online once your update request is approved by clicking “Download Aadhaar” on UIDAI official website.
