UMANG App | One Single App for availing various government services!

UMANG App

UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance) is a Mobile Application developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD). The aim of UMANG App is to fast-track mobile governance in India.

UMANG App provides a unified approach where citizens can install one application to avail varied government services on different channels like mobile app, web, IVR and SMS. These can be accessed through smartphones, feature phones, tablets and desktops. In this post, let us discuss about the features and benefits of UMANG app.  



It is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India program to facilitate a single point of access to major services. The services will be from central and state government departments, local bodies and some important utility services from private organizations.



Key features of UMANG App

1. UMANG brings together major services of government departments on a single platform to provide better and easier services to citizens.
2. It provides seamless integration with popular customer services like EPFO, NPS, Aadhaar, PayGov and Digilocker.
3. You can explore its services on mobile app, website, IVR, and SMS through smartphones, feature phones, tablets, and desktops.
4. It supports Aadhaar-based and other authentication mechanisms for service access.
5. It has a rich multimedia interface for maximizing usability and enriching user experience.
6. It provides a uniform experience across department services including payment-based transactions.
7. It uses latest industry standards as security measures like OTP and MPIN.
8. It supports 13 shortlisted languages including English and Hindi.

You can download it in the following ways
1. QR Code: To download it, use your mobile phone to scan the QR code on UMANG official website.
2. Missed Call: Get UAMNG App link by giving a missed call on 9718397183.

3. SMS: Get the link for this on your handset enter your mobile number on UMANG official website and click on “Get App”.
4. You can also download it from Google Play Store for your Android devices, from App Store for your iOS devices and from Windows Store for your Windows devices.

How to register and log in on UMANG App?

You can register on it through the following interfaces:
1. Website
2. Mobile App
However, there is no need to register for using its services through IVR and SMS. You can directly use the SMS number and IVR number to avail the UMANG department services available on SMS and IVR.

Registration process
1. Download and install it on your smartphone.
2. Open it.
3. Select language of your preference.
4. Tap on “NEW USER” tab. The Registration screen appears.
5. Enter your mobile number and tap on “Next” to continue. The mobile number verification screen appears.
6. Here, enter the OTP received on the mobile number. Once it is successful, the “Set MPIN” screen appears.
7. Now set your 4 digits numeric MPIN to protect your account against unauthorized access. Tap on “Next” to continue. The security question screen appears.
8. Here, select two questions and provide answers to these questions for recovering your account.
9. The mobile number verification screen appears. Enter the OTP received.
10. The home screen appears.

How to Login on UMANG App?

You can login on this by two ways:
1. Mobile Number: You can log in through the mobile number with MPIN or OTP.
2. Aadhaar Id: You can log in through Aadhaar Id with OTP and biometric device (for Android).
