EPF (Employees Provident Fund) is a retirement benefits scheme for salaried persons in India. EPF is
managed and overseen by EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation). At
present, an employee has to pay 12% of
his/her salary (Basic + DA) towards the EPF scheme every month and an equal
amount is paid by his/her employer. Every EPF member should nominate a
nominee(s) in his/her EPF account to receive the EPF fund in the event of
his/her death. In this post, we will take a look at how to submit or change EPF
nomination online through UAN.
EPF Nomination online through UAN
The EPFO has recently
launched E-nomination facility on Unified Member Portal. The EPF members can submit
a new nomination or change their existing EPF nomination online through this facility.
Any member with activated UAN can avail this EPF nomination online facility. The
earlier process of changing EPF nomination was manual and lengthy. The new
E-nomination facility is easy and faster. We all know that life is unpredictable.

Whom can you nominate for EPF?
1. In the case of a married male
member
a) Wife
b) Children
c) Dependent parents
d) Deceased son’s widow and
children.
2. In the case of a married female
member
a) Husband
b) Children
c) Dependent parents
d) Husband’s, dependent
parents
e) Deceased son’s widow and
children
3. If at the time of making
a nomination the member has no family, the nomination may be in favour of any person or persons.
How to submit or change EPF Nomination online through UAN | Online EPF Nomination process
Following are the steps to
submit or change EPF nomination online through UAN on Unified member portal.
2. Log in using your UAN
(Universal Account Number) and password.
3. After login, click on the submenu “E-Nomination” under the main menu “Manage” tab.
4. Now you will be taken to
your profile page. Your profile page shows details like your UAN number, Name,
Date of Birth, Father’s name, Date of joining, and Gender. Here you need to provide
your permanent address in the relevant field and click on “Save” button. This
step will update your address. Your date of joining the EPF scheme must be
registered to complete this process.
5. Next, you need to select “Yes”
or “No” to provide Family Declaration. If you select “Yes”, you will be asked
to add your family details like Name, Date of Birth, Relation, Address, and Guardian (if a family member is a minor).
6. Add your family details. You
can select a relationship from the drop-down
menu. Click on “Save Family Details” button to save your family details.
7. Next is EPF Nomination.
Here you need to nominate your family member(s) for your EPF account. You also
need to assign the percentage of the “total amount of share” to your nominees.
If you select only one member as your nominee then you can assign 100% as the
share.
8. After completing the
above details, click on “Save EPF Nomination” button to save EPF Nomination details
in your EPF account.
9. Here you need to approve
you E-Nomination by using e-Sign. Click on “e-Sign” button.
10. It will ask you to
select signatory and generate OTP. Generate OTP by clicking on “generate OTP”
button.
11. The OTP will be sent to your mobile number that is linked to your Aadhaar.
12. Enter the received OTP
in the provided field. Your EPF nomination will be registered in your EPF
account.
