The traditional sources of information are business news channels, newspapers and stock broker website. Accurate and timely information about your stocks & shares can save you from heavy losses. The news about popular stocks is easily available. But news about the less popular stocks is not easily available. Google Alerts can help you in monitoring such stocks.



What is Google Alerts?

Google Alerts is a content change detection and notification service offered by Google. Google Alerts sends emails to you when it finds anything new such as blog posts, web pages, news, articles, or any research, that match your search term. You will get emails when new results for your topic show up in Google Search. Google Alerts service is very useful for many reasons, such as monitoring the web for specific information about your shares and company, your online content, your competition or current trends. 1. Google Alerts is a free service.
2. You can create, edit or delete Google Alerts as per your requirement.
3. You will get emails from Google Alerts when new results for your stocks & shares show up in Google Search. It will save your time as there is no need to search news related to your stocks & shares.
4. You can read all news about your stocks & shares in your email anytime when you are free.
 5. You can search particular news about your stocks & shares from your emails archive after few days.

How to use Google Alerts to monitor your Stocks & Shares?

Follow the step by step process to setup Google alerts for your stocks & shares as given below
1. Go to Google Alerts (https://www.google.co.in/alerts)
2. Log in using your Google Id and password. If you don’t have one, then you need to create your Google account for using this service.
3. In the box at the top, enter the name of your stock for which you want to create an alert.

4. To change your settings, click on the “Show options”.

5. Select an option for “How often” you want to get alerts. Options are “As it happens”, “At most once a day” and “At most once a week”.
6. Next select source as “Automatic” or select multiple sources like blog, news, web, finance, video, books, discussions etc as per your requirement.
7. Next, select your “Language” and “Region”.
8. Here select an option for “How many” results you want to see. You can select either “Only the best results” or “All results”.
9. Select your email Id or RSS feed where you want Google Alerts for your stock to be delivered.

10. Click on “Create Alert” button.
11. Now you will get emails from Google Alerts whenever Google find matching results for your stock.
12. Repeat the above-mentioned process for all the stocks & shares you want to monitor.


How to edit Google Alerts?

Follow the below steps to edit your Google alerts
1. Visit Google Alerts (https://www.google.co.in/alerts)
2. Next, to an alert, click “Edit”.
3. If you don’t see any options, click “Show options”.
4. Make the desired changes.
5. Click “Update Alert”.
6. To change how you get alerts, click “Settings” and check the options you want and click “Save”.


How to delete a Google Alert?

1. Visit Google Alerts (https://www.google.co.in/alerts)
2. Click “Delete” next to the alert you want to delete.
3. You can also delete an alert by clicking Unsubscribe at the bottom of an alert email.
